Gardening Spring Clean

Garden Spring Clean

As I remove the rotted wood,
a cache of woodlice is disturbed,
scampering in sudden sunlight.
Armoured shells in assorted shapes
and sizes, small and glistening.
Soundless in their searching
for a further family refuge. A home.
But soon the clamour fades
dissolving in the fronds and shoots
of this unfolding season.
