Curtain Raiser

Very chilly this morning as I got out of bed. Always the way when there is a clear sky in November. Too mild and it seems that we have incessant rain, but a clear sky always gives rise to a lower temperature and frosts. However, I much prefer the latter, especially  when I opened the curtains and was presented with a glorious sight of early sunlight crashing against golden leaves of autumn.

A golden shoal of aged leaf

brings breathless beauty.

There is no need for grief

at summer’s end. The duty

of Nature is always to renew,

endowing every season

with countless things to view.
